Penrose Place and Matti’s House – Long Term Structured Residences (LTSR) 

Our LTSRs Penrose Place and Matti’s House provide individuals with 24-hour care staffing support, psychiatric, and nursing services. Individuals work closely with staff to identify short-term and long-term skills necessary to achieve daily success and individualize mental health recovery goals. A plan is created to gain (and sometimes regain) independent living skills through supportive care to achieve a higher level of independence than upon admission. Support provided can include but is not limited to:

  • Personalized Intake Treatment Plans followed by monthly Treatment Team Meetings
  • Independent Living Skills such as: budgeting, hygiene, time management, cooking, cleaning, etc.
  • Medical Management through nursing staff: medication administration/monitoring, medical education, and appointment-keeping.
  • Psychiatric Support from licensed and trained staff such as:

Individual Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychoeducational groups, Health and Wellness Education Groups, Motivational Interviewing style of communication, Psychosocial groups, Coping skills group, and reintegration planning groups.

  • Additional Wellness Groups may include:

Creative Arts Therapy, Movement Therapy, Recreation and Leisure activities.

 

Enrollment Eligibility

  • Must be between 21 (18?) years of age & up to 75
  • Must want to be enrolled in the voluntary program and want to work towards achieving individualized goals.
  • Length of stay differs from 1 to 18 years to match the needs of the individuals
  • A psychological evaluation identifying a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) DSM 5 diagnosis

Must be completed within 6 months at time of enrollment.
SMIs Include: Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective, Bipolar, Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), or Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
SMI combined with sever functional impairment, identifying an individual appropriate for LTSR rehabilitative services.

  • History of re-hospitalization or multiple periods of homelessness when struggling to remain in lower levels of care within the community.

 

Enrollment Information

All referrals are made through the Transitions, Integration, and Partnerships Program (TIP) facilitated by the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services (DBHIDS). Referral can be found here.
